Team Welcomes First Homeowner Partnered with Atlanta Affordable Housing Non-Profit
This fall, local Atlanta homebuilder O’Dwyer Homes was excited to welcome its first new homeowner as part of an affordable housing focused initiative in partnership with a local, Atlanta non-profit committed to increasing access to affordable housing in the metro area. “As a local Atlanta homebuilder, we feel that it’s an important opportunity and responsibility for us to help address housing concerns in the region,” says Jordon Tench of O’Dwyer Homes. “It was really exciting for our team to be able to help a hardworking member of the community make homeownership a reality. We hope to continue contributing to these efforts and to see other homebuilders get involved as well.”
While the Atlanta area has historically been known for its relatively affordable cost of living, housing affordability has become a growing issue for the metro area. O’Dwyer’s new homebuyer had been living in a rental property that required a long and taxing commute to her work serving the community in public education. Working with a community-based affordable housing program, not only was she able to become a homeowner, but she also cut her commute to work down to a fraction of what it had been from her rental. Community organizations like HouseATL are working to lead the way in addressing housing affordability needs across metro Atlanta’s core counties.
